ABSTRACT

Objective@#To analyze the association between non-school sedentary time and myopia among primary and secondary school students with different levels of physical activity, so as to provide data for precise measures to prevent and control myopia.@*Methods@#From September to December 2019, stratified cluster sampling was used to select 7 872 primary and secondary students in grades 4 to 12, middle and high school students from Hefei, Suzhou, Chizhou and Wuhu Cities in Anhui Province. Face-to-face questionnaires and vision examinations were conducted to collect demographic information, physical activity time, sedentary study time and visual health status. Potential categories were analyzed for different types of physical activity time, and Logistic regression was used to assess the relationship between non-school sedentary time and myopia at different levels of physical activity.@*Results@#A total of 2 976 primary and secondary school students were found with high physical activity levels and 4 896 primary and secondary school students with low physical activity levels. The proportion of low physical activity was higher in girls than in boys (68.7% vs . 55.6%), and the differences were statistically significant ( χ 2=143.97, P <0.01). The overall screening myopia rate was 48.2%, with statistically significant differences among female students (53.0%) compared with male students (43.3%), urban students ( 51.8 %) compared with rural students (44.5%), and longer non-school sedentary time students (60.6%) compared with average (45.1%) and shorter (42.1%) non-school sedentary time students, and the differences were statistically significant ( χ 2=73.15, 41.96 , 161.74, P <0.01). Adjusting for confounders such as residence, grade, gender, age, father s education, mother s education, and body mass index (BMI), multivariate Logistic regression analysis revealed that prolonged after-school sedentary study was positivety correlated with myopia among primary and secondary school students of low physical activity levels ( OR=1.52, 95%CI=1.27-1.83, P <0.01), and there was no statistical association between after-school sedentary time and myopia in primary and secondary school students with high physical activity levels ( P >0.05).@*Conclusion@#Attention should be paid to non-school sedentary time for primary and secondary school students with low physical activity levels. And students who spend a lot of time sitting outside of school should be encouraged to maintain high physical activity levels to reduce the risk of myopia.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To understand the differences in the application of three distant vision examination methods in children, so as to provide a reference for developing a unified distant vision examination for this population.@*Methods@#The study involved 98 children aged 4 to 16 years who visited the ophthalmology department of a children s hospital in Anhui Province between August 15 and 25, 2022. Vision was measured using the distant vision test method specified in the 2014 National Student Physical Fitness and Health Survey (V1), the 2019 National Student Physical Fitness and Health Survey (V2), and Specification for Screening of Refractive Error in Primary and Secondary School Students (WS/T 663-2020) (V3). The paired samples McNemar s test and Wilcoxon test were performed to compare the detection rate of poor vision and the difference between the visual acuity test results of the three methods.@*Results@#The results of the 98 children examined according to V1, V2, and V3 showed that the M (P25, P 75 ) of the right eye were 4.8(4.6,5.0),4.8(4.7,5.0),and 4.8(4.7,5.0)while the left eye visual acuity M ( P 25 , P 75 ) were 4.8 (4.6,5.0),4.9( 4.7 ,5.0),and 4.9(4.7,5.0),respectively. The rates of poor visual acuity detection for the right eye were 63.3%, 58.2% and 58.2 % for V1, V2, and V3, respectively, while for the left eye, they were 58.2%, 54.1% and 53.1%, respectively. McNemar test results showed that there were no statistically significant differences in the rates of poor visual acuity detection between the right and left eyes for V1 vs. V2, V1 vs. V3, and V2 vs. V3 (left eyes: χ 2=2.25,2.29,0.00,right eyes: χ 2=3.20,3.20,0.00, P >0.05).Wilcoxon test results indicated that there were statistically significant differences between the right and left eye visual acuity groups for V1 vs. V2 and V1 vs. V3 (left eyes: Z =-4.15,-4.60, right eyes: Z = -4.70,-4.99, P <0.01).@*Conclusion@#Irrespective of whether the starting visual standard starts at row 4.0 or 5.0, different standards of visual standard passage have an impact on the visual acuity results. It is recommended that existing methods of screening for distance vision are standardized.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To investigate the type, length, and CG loci of HBV DNA CpG islands in HBsAg positive maternal C genotype and its relationship with intrauterine HBV transmission, so as to provide a new perspective for the study of intrauterine transmission of HBV. Methods: From June 2011 to July 2013, HBsAg-positive mothers and their newborns who delivered in the obstetrics and gynecology department of the Third People's Hospital of Taiyuan were collected. Epidemiological data were collected through face-to-face questionnaires and electronic medical records. Serum HBV markers and serum HBV DNA were detected by electrochemiluminescence and quantitative fluorescence PCR, respectively. Intrauterine transmission of HBV was determined by positive HBsAg and/or HBV DNA in femoral venous blood before injection of HBV vaccine/Hepatitis B immunoglobulin within 24 h of birth. A total of 22 mothers and their newborns with HBV DNA load ≥106 IU/ml in intrauterine transmission were selected as the intrauterine transmission group, and 22 mothers with HBV DNA load ≥106 IU/ml without intrauterine transmission were chosen as the control group by random seed method. The distribution prediction of CpG islands of HBV DNA in 39 mothers with genotype C by HBV DNA sequencing was analyzed. Results: Among 39 mothers with HBV C genotype, 19 were in the intrauterine transmission group, and 20 were in the control group. The HBV DNA of 39 patients with genotype C traditional CpG island Ⅱ and Ⅲ, while the control group had traditional CpG island Ⅰ and novel CpG island Ⅳ and Ⅴ. The length of CpG island Ⅱ and Ⅲ and the number of CG loci of CpG island Ⅱ in the intrauterine transmission group differed from those in the control group (P<0.05). The CpG island Ⅱ length ≥518 bp and the number of CG loci ≥40 in the intrauterine transmission group (11/19) were significantly higher than those in the control group (2/20) (P<0.05). The length of CpG island Ⅱ and the number of CG loci in the X gene promoter region (Xp region) were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). In the HBV intrauterine transmission group, most of maternal (12/19) HBV DNA CpG island Ⅱ completely covered the Xp region, which was significantly higher than that in the control group (5/20), and the number of HBV DNA Xp region CG loci was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusions: The distribution of maternal C genotype HBV DNA CpG islands is related to intrauterine transmission. The length of CpG island Ⅱ and the number of CG sites may increase the risk of intrauterine transmission of HBV.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To explore the effect and mechanism of activation of peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) Toll-like receptor (TLR3) signaling pathway in recombinant HBsAg (rHBsAg) immune response. Methods: White blood cells were collected from peripheral blood of 13 healthy donors in the preparation of blood products. PBMC was isolated and treated with Poly I:C (Poly I:C group) and PBS (control group) respectively. 48 h later, some cells were collected and the expressions of TLR3 signaling pathway proteins were detected by flow cytometry. After activating (Poly I:C group)/inactivating (control group) TLR3 signaling pathway, rHBsAg was given to both groups for 72 h, and the proportions of DC, T, B cells and their subsets in PBMC were detected by flow cytometry. Paired t-test, paired samples wilcoxon signed-rank test and canonical correlation analyses were used for statistical analysis. Results: The percentage of TLR3 protein-positive cells (19.21%) and protein expression (8 983.95), NF-κB protein expression (26 193.13), the percentage of pNF-κB protein-positive cells (13.73%) and its proportion in NF-κB (16.03%), and the percentage of pIRF3 protein-positive cells (12.64%) and its proportion in IRF3 (21.80%) in Poly I:C group were higher than those in control group (11.54%, 8 086.00, 22 340.66, 8.72%, 9.71%, 9.57%, 19.12%) (P<0.05), and the percentage of TRIF protein-positive cells (89.75%) and protein expression (304 219.54) were higher in Poly I:C group than in the control group (89.64%, 288 149.72) (P>0.05). After PBMC stimulation by rHBsAg, the proportions of mDC (2.90%), pDC (1.80%), B cell (5.31%) and plasma cell (67.71%) in Poly I:C group were significantly higher than those in the control group (1.83%, 0.81%, 4.23%, 58.82%) (P<0.05). Results of canonical correlation analysis showed that the expression of TLR3 protein was positively correlated with the proportions of plasma cells, the expression of pIRF3 protein was positively correlated with the proportions of plasma cells and mDC, and the percentage of pNF-κB protein-positive cells and the percentage of pIRF3 protein-positive cells were positively correlated with the proportion of CD4+T cells. Conclusions: Poly I:C can activate TLR3/TRIF/NF-κB and TLR3/TRIF/IRF3 signaling pathway, promote the function of downstream signaling molecules, and then promote the maturation of DC, induce the immune responses of CD4+T cell, and promote the maturation and activation of B cells and the immune response of rHBsAg.

ABSTRACT

Traditional bulk RNA sequencing assesses the average expression level of genes in tissues rather than the differences in cellular responses. Accordingly, it is hard to differentiate sensitive responding cells, leading to inaccurate identification of toxicity pathways. Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) isolated single cells from tissue and subjected them to cell subtypes-specific transcriptome analysis. This technique in toxicological studies realizes the heterogeneous cellular responses in the tissue microenvironment upon chemical exposure. Thus it helps to identify sensitive responding cells and key molecular events, providing a powerful tool and a new perspective for exploring the mechanisms of toxicity and the modes of action. This review summarizes the development, principle, method, application and limitations of scRNA-seq in mechanistic toxicological researches, and discusses the prospect of multi-directional applications.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To evaluate the feasibility of autoregressive integrated moving average with explanatory variables ( ARIMAX ) model including meteorological factors on the prediction of influenza-like illness ( ILI ), so as to provide a basis for the monitoring and early warning of influenza.@*Methods@#The ILI data reported by four sentinel hospitals in Yuhang District of Hangzhou from the 1st week of 2014 to the 26th week of 2018 was collected, as well as the meteorological data during the same period. The ARIMAX model was established using the percentage of ILI cases in total outpatients ( ILI% ) data from the 1st week of 2014 to the 52nd week of 2017 and the meteorological factors selected by Lasso regression model. The ILI% from the 1st to 26th week of 2018 was predicted and compared with the actual values to verify the ARIMAX model.@*Results@#From the 1st week of 2014 to the 26th week of 2018, a total of 60 419 cases of ILI were reported by the four sentinel hospitals of Yuhang District, with ILI% of 1.29%. Lasso regression analysis showed that there was a positive correlation between weekly average absolute humidity and ILI% ( r=27.769 ), and a negative correlation between weekly average temperature and ILI% ( r=-0.117 ). The ARIMAX (1, 0, 0) ( 1, 0, 0 )12 with weekly average temperature and absolute humidity was selected as the optimal model, with the Bayesian information criterion (BIC) value of 81.30 and the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) value of 15.77%. The MAPE value of the ARIMAX model predicting the ILI% from 1st to 26th week of 2018 were 43.75%.@*Conclusion@#The ARIMAX model including meteorological factors can be used to predict the prevalence of ILI, but the accuracy needs to be promoted.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To understand the behavioral characteristics of vaccination of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine based on diffusion of innovation theory, and to put forward suggestions for improving the vaccination willingness.@*Methods@#The women who had made an appointment or received at least one dose of HPV vaccine in two community health service centers with HPV vaccination qualification in Hangzhou were recruited by convenience sampling method. A questionnaire survey was conducted according to cervical cancer risk factors, HPV vaccine knowledge and the time of vaccination. The diffusion of HPV vaccination and the characteristics of vaccinees in different stages was analyzed.@*Results@#A total of 448 women, aged from 18 to 45 years old, with a median of 30.5 years old, were investigated. The spread of HPV vaccine were divided into five stages: April 2017 and before was the initial stage, with 8 leaders, accounting for 1.79%; October 2017 to February 2018 was the slowly rising stage, with 59 early vaccinees, accounting for 13.17%; April 2018 to April 2019 was the rising stage, with 160 most early vaccinees, accounting for 35.71%; May to August 2019 was the rapidly rising stage, with 170 most late vaccinees, accounting for 37.95%; September 2019 to the end of the survey was the standstill stage, with 51 laggards, accounting for 11.38%. All of the leaders had participated in cervical cancer screening, voluntarily vaccinated, and knew the susceptible population of cervical cancer, the targeted HPV types and the suitable population of vaccine. The median age of the first pregnancy was 27 years old. Six of them had three pregnancies. The early vaccinees and the most early vaccinees were recommended by doctors or friends to get HPV vaccine. The median age of first pregnancy was 26 and 28 years old, respectively. Their other characteristics were similar to those of the leaders. The characteristics of most late vaccinees were similar to those of the laggards. They were were mainly students who were recommended by their friends to receive HPV vaccination, did not participate in cervical cancer screening, did not know the susceptible population of cervical cancer, the targeted HPV types and the suitable population of vaccine.@*Conclusions@#People with high risk of HPV exposure, awareness of cervical cancer and screening are more likely to receive HPV vaccination at the early stage. It is necessary to strengthen the health education of HPV vaccination, and make full use of the influence of doctors and early vaccinees, which is helpful to promote the early vaccination of HPV vaccine among the right age population.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the effect of PBMC HBV cccDNA in HBsAg-positive mothers on neonatal Th1, Th2 cytokines and the ratio of Th1/Th2. Methods HBsAg-positive mothers and their neonates delivered in the Third People’s Hospital of Taiyuan between June 2011 and July 2013 were recruited. Questionnaires on general information were collected by an in-person interview. Electrochemiluminescence immunoassay (ECLIA) were utilized to detect HBV serological markers.HBV cccDNA in PBMC was detected with real-time PCR-TaqMan Probe method, Th1 cytokines (interleukin 2, interferon-γ and tumor necrosis factor-α) and Th2 cytokines (interleukin 4, interleukin 6 and interleukin 10) were detected with Procarta Plex Multiplex Immunoassays. Results Univariate analysis showed that the levels of IL-2, IL-6 and IL-10 in the positive group were significantly higher than those in the negative group, while the ratio of Th1/Th2 was lower than that in the negative group (P=0.034, P=0.007, P=0.048, P=0.029). The levels of IL-6 and IL-10 in neonates delivered by vagina were significantly higher than those by cesarean section, while the ratio of Th1/Th2 was lower than that by cesarean section (P<0.001). The level of IL-10 in positive group of neonatal HBsAg was significantly higher than that in negative group, while TNF-α and Th1/Th2 ratio were lower than negative group (P=0.011, P<0.001, P=0.027). The degree of Th2 predominant response was reflected by ratio of Th1/Th2. After adjusting potential confounding factors in non-conditional logistic regression analysis, compared to those born to mothers with PBMC HBV cccDNA negative, neonates whose mother with PBMC HBV cccDNA positive had an increased risk of having a strong Th2 predominant response (OR=2.42,95% CI:1.16-5.04, P=0.018). The risk of a strong Th2 predominant response in neonates delivered by vagina was 5.49 times higher than those by cesarean section (OR=5.06, 95% CI: 2.95-8.67, P<0.001). Conclusion HBsAg-positive mothers’ PBMC HBV replication and vaginal delivery may increase the risk of having a Th2 predominant response in neonates. It is suggested that we should pay attention to the effect of maternal PBMC HBV replication and the mode of delivery on neonatal Th1/Th2 cytokines.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To investigate the relationship between maternal peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) hepatitis B virus (HBV) covalenty closed circular deoxyribonucleic acid (cccDNA) and other HBV serological markers and its effects on HBV intrauterine transmission.@*METHODS@#We enrolled 290 newborns and their hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) positive mothers. HBV cccDNA in PBMC and HBV DNA in serum were detected by a real-time PCR-TaqMan probe while HBV serological markers were detected with an electrochemiluminescence immunoassay.@*RESULTS@#There was a positive correlation between the levels of PBMC HBV cccDNA and serum HBV DNA and HBeAg (r = 0.436 and 0.403, P < 0.001). The detection rate of pattern A ['HBsAg (+), HBeAg (+), and anti-HBc (+)'] was significantly higher in the PBMC HBV cccDNA positive group than in the control group (χ2 = 48.48, P < 0.001). There was a significant association between HBV intrauterine transmission and PBMC HBV cccDNA (χ2 = 9.28, P = 0.002). In the presence of serum HBV DNA, HBeAg, and PBMC HBV cccDNA, the risk of HBV intrauterine transmission was three times higher (OR = 3.69, 95% CI: 1.30-10.42) than that observed in their absence. The risk of HBV intrauterine transmission was the greatest (OR = 5.89, 95% CI: 2.35-14.72) when both PBMC HBV cccDNA and pattern A were present. A Bayesian network model showed that maternal PBMC HBV cccDNA was directly related to HBV intrauterine transmission.@*CONCLUSION@#PBMC HBV cccDNA may be a direct risk factor for HBV intrauterine transmission. Our study suggests that serological markers could be combined with PBMC-related markers in prenatal testing.

ABSTRACT

Abstract Cellulosimicrobium cellulans CWS2, a novel strain capable of utilizing benzo(a)pyrene (BaP) as the sole carbon and energy source under nitrate-reducing conditions, was isolated from PAH-contaminated soil. Temperature and pH significantly affected BaP biodegradation, and the strain exhibited enhanced biodegradation ability at temperatures above 30 °C and between pH 7 and 10. The highest BaP removal rate (78.8%) was observed in 13 days when the initial BaP concentration was 10 mg/L, and the strain degraded BaP at constant rate even at a higher concentration (50 mg/L). Metal exposure experimental results illustrated that Cd(II) was the only metal ion that significantly inhibited biodegradation of BaP. The addition of 0.5 and 1.0 g/L glucose enhanced BaP biodegradation, while the addition of low-molecular-weight organic acids with stronger acidity reduced BaP removal rates during co-metabolic biodegradation. The addition of phenanthrene and pyrene, which were degraded to some extent by the strain, showed no distinct effect on BaP biodegradation. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis revealed that the five rings of BaP opened, producing compounds with one to four rings which were more bioavailable. Thus, the strain exhibited strong BaP degradation capability and has great potential in the remediation of BaP-/PAH-contaminated environments.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE To determine the functional role of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in protecting against mitochondrial dysfunction in heart failure through the inhibition of Ca2 +/calmodulin-dependent protein kinaseⅡ (CaMKⅡ) using wild type and CSE knockout mouse models. METHODS Continuous subcutaneous injection isoprenaline (7.5 mg·kg-1 per day), once a day for 4 weeks to induce heart failure in male C57BL/6 (6-8 weeks old) mice and CSE-/- mice. 150 μmol·L-1 H2O2 was used to induce oxidative stress in H9c2 cells. Echocardiograph was used to detect cardiac parameters. H&E stain and Masson stain was to observation histopathological changes. Western blot was used to detect protein expression and activity. The siRNA was used to silence protein expression. HPLC was used to detect H2S level. Biotin assay was used to detect the level of S-sulfhydration protein. RESULTS Treatment with S-propyl-L-cysteine (SPRC) or sodium hydrosulfide (NaHS), modulators of blood H2S levels, attenuated the development of heart failure in animals, reduced lipid peroxidation, and preserved mitochondrial function. The inhibition CaMKⅡ phosphorylation by SPRC and NaHS as demonstrated using both in vivo and in vitro models corresponded with the cardioprotective effects of these compounds. Interestingly, CaMKⅡ activity was found to be elevated in CSE-/- mice as compared to wild type animals and the phosphorylation status of CaMK Ⅱ appeared to relate to the severity of heart failure. Importantly, in wild type mice SPRC was found to promote S-sulfhydration of CaMKⅡ leading to reduced activity of this protein however, in CSE-/- mice S-sulfhydration was abolished following SPRC treatment. CONCLUSION A novel mechanism depicting a role of S-sulfhydration in the regulation of CaMKⅡ is presented. SPRC mediated S-sulfhydration of CaMKⅡ was found to inhibit CaMKⅡ activity and to preserve cardiovascular homeostasis.

Background: Hepatosplenic T-cell lymphoma is a rare malignancy in childhood. Case characteristics: A 12-year-old boy who presented a pyrexia of unknown origin, multiple skin and lesions and marked hepatosplenomegaly. Observation: Bone marrow aspirate cytology showed no blast cells. Splenectomy was done, and spleen showed infiltration with atypical lymphoid cells positive for CD3, CD8 and T-cell-restricted intracellular antigen. Outcome: The skin rash of patient subsided with chemotherapy. Message: Skin involvement may be an unusual clinical manifestation of hepatosplenic T-cell lymphoma.

ABSTRACT

In order to find new tyrosinase inhibitors and antioxidant materials, we investigated 44 plants, which were evaluated for the anti-tyrosinase and antioxidant activities. The mushroom tyrosinase inhibition assay and 2, 2-Diphenyl-1- picrylhydrazyl [DPPH] radical scavenging assay were conducted to evaluate these activities. Among all tested plant extracts, Morus alba L. [positive control], Rhodiola crenulata [Hook. f. et Thorns.] H. Ohba, Momordica charantia L., Cuminum cyminum L. et al exhibit higher tyrosinase inhibition. Rhodiola crenulata [Hook. f. et Thorns.] H. Ohba, Rosa rugosa Thunb. and Eugenia caryophyllata Thunb. perform the highest antioxidant activity, similar to vitamin C [the positive control]. A low positive correlation is found in the DPPH radical scavenging and tyrosinase inhibition assay. Considering these factors, the extracts of Rhodiola crenulata [Hook. f. et Thorns.] H. Ohba, Alpinia officinarum Hance and Zanthoxylum bungeanum Maxim, exhibit high anti-tyrosinase and antioxidant activities and could be used in the cosmetic industry. Further studies are warranted to characterize the compounds responsible for the anti-tyrosinase and antioxidant properties of these plant extracts

ABSTRACT

As an intracellular energy sensor, AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) plays an important role in maintaining the energy balance of the cells and organisms. Initially, the effects of AMPK on the processes of pathophysiology in diabetes, obesity and other metabolic diseases were well studied. In recent years, the roles of AMPK in the pathophysioiogical processes, including distribution and acidosis, oxidative stress injury and apoptosis in brain tissue have received increasing attention. At the same time, it also found that artificially regulates the AMPK activity after stroke may change the outcome of neurons. Therefore, AMPK is expected to become a new target in the treatment of ischemic cerebrovascular disease.

ABSTRACT

As an important component of the “neurovascular unit”,astrocytes provide protective effect for nervous through intaking excessive excitatory amino acids, providing energy substances, maintaining extracellular K + and water balance, scavenging oxygen free radicals and secreting neurotrophic factor during ischemic stroke. This article elaborates the mechanisms of astrocytes participating in ischemic stroke in recent years.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To study the clinical manifestations and neuroimaging characteristics of pediatric moyamoya disease.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>The clinical data of 17 children with moyamoya disease were retrospectively studied.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The onset age was between 3 and 14 years. The main clinical manifestations included motor weakness of extremities or hemiplegia, sensory disturbance and headache. Cranial CT or/and MRI examinations predominately showed cerebral infarct. Magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) showed stenosis or occlusion at the terminus of the siphon portions of internal carotid arteries and proximal portions of anterior or middle cerebral arteries, and abnormal vascular networks at the base of brain.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Cerebral ischemia is main clinical manifestations in children with moyamoya disease, presenting motor weakness of extremities or hemiplegia, sensory disturbance and headache. DSA is essential to the diagnosis of the disease.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>AIM</b>The purpose of this study is to compare the effects of the two clutches on recording the condylar movement.</p><p><b>METHODOLOGY</b>Ten subjects (6 women, 4 men; mean age 25.4 years) participated in the study. The mandibular movement, sagittal condylar inclination angle, and transversal condylar inclination angle of each subject were recorded with the CADIAX using the two clutches, respectively. The characteristics of the tracings of the protrusion, opening, and mediotrusion were analyzed with the t-test statistics at a = 0.05 level. The Kappa values were calculated for an assessment of the congruence of the tracings.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The results showed that the contour, direction, and dimension of the tracings in the two clutches were approximately same, but the tracings determined by the functional occlusal clutch were more regular and congruent. In the group segment recorded with the tray clutch, opening/closing paths of one subject showed crossed and time curves of three subjects appeared peak-like changes of velocity, but none were statistically different (P>0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The research suggests that the functional occlusal clutch should be preferred in the evaluation of the mandibular function, as the tracings with the tray clutch are more likely to produce false positive results.</p>
